PointDexter

PointDexter is a study buddy that explains text on web pages. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data when you use it. PointDexter has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or any personal identifier.
PointDexter only sends text off your device when you ask it to do something:
This text is sent only to generate your answer. It is not used for anything else.
Your request passes through our proxy hosted on Cloudflare, which forwards it to an AI provider (such as Groq, Cerebras, Gemini, SambaNova, Mistral, or Cloudflare Workers AI) to generate the answer. Those providers process the text to return a response. We do not store the content of your selections, pages, or clipboard on our servers. Your IP address is visible to Cloudflare for security and rate limiting, as it is for any normal web request.
Your settings (appearance, visibility, the double Ctrl+C preference, muted
sites, and the buddy position) and a daily usage count are stored locally
in your browser using chrome.storage. They stay on your
device, sync only through your own browser account if you have sync on,
and are not readable by us.
Because your selection is sent to an AI provider to be explained, please avoid using PointDexter on secrets such as passwords or private keys.
PointDexter is not directed at children under 13.
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the most recent change.
